Meet Emily

Hi, I’m Emily!

Born and bred in West Bromwich in the West Midlands, I have been involved in the arts from a very young age. As a teenager, I spent much of my time on the stage in roles such as Marty in Grease, Nora in A Doll's House and of course, my crowning achievement, Oompa Loompa 4 in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. l have worked in the arts since graduating from The University of Birmingham with a BA in Drama and Theatre Studies and English Literature.

Nowadays, you're more likely to catch me behind-the-scenes. I worked with an outdoor touring theatre company for 7 years before joining the Live & Local team.

Outside of work, I’m a huge foodie and love to cook and (of course) eat loads of different cuisines. I think my favourite food is probably Spanish Tapas – particularly if it’s accompanied with some sunshine!

Travelling is a huge part of my life. I love nothing more than packing a bag and getting away to a remote cottage or hideaway with my sister and my best friend. We love to explore the countryside and take in the culture.

I’m thrilled to be joining the Live & Local team at such an exciting time and can’t wait to get stuck in!

What was your favourite live event or a memorable live event that you attended?

I once saw an open-air production of The Tempest down in Cornwall on a beautiful cliffside. The only thing was, the weather decided to make the Tempest a little too immersive – we were drenched by the interval but we had such a great time!

What do you enjoy most about working in the arts?

I love the amazing people you get to work with. Everyone has their own story and something to teach you!

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Originally I wanted to be a zoo-keeper – only a little different from being a Marketing and Publicity Assistant eh?

Do you have a personal motto you live by or any favourite inspirational quotes?

“Whenever people agree with me, I always feel I must be wrong.” ― Oscar Wilde

What has been your favourite holiday / where is your favourite place?

Cornwall has a very special place in my heart. We’ve been visiting a small town called Porthtowan every year since I was 6.
